Who wants us?

ECCO´s headquarters is located in Southwest Denmark close to the German border. Did you know that this was more or less a coincidence?

A Classic is born

The demand for more comfortable footwear is growing. Elegant ladies footwear is now replaced with unisex leisure shoes. In 1978 ECCO Joke is launched.

Technological innovation

The 1980s was a decade of technological innovation. The most significant turning point was the installation of the first Desma machine in 1981, which injected the sole directly onto the upper part of the shoe.

Global expansion

The decade is characterised by growth on all fronts. New production facilities, new markets and major investments make ECCO a global player in the shoe industry.

A new era

ECCO´s founder Karl Toosbuy dies at the age of 76, and the second generation takes over.

New heights

The Direct Injection Production reaches new heights, which is a revolutionary advance in the design of high heels.
