ECCO built new factories in Indonesia, Thailand and Slovakia. Sales subsidiaries were opened in Hong Kong, Australia, New Zealand, Finland, Sweden, Belgium and Poland.
ECCO also decided to make a serious entry into the North American market, by opening a US sales company. In 1994, ECCO was named “Footwear Company of the Year” in the US.
In 1996, Karl Toosbuy and his son-in-law, Dieter Kasprzak, decided to start producing golf shoes. The first shoe was launched the same year to a positive reception.
