Wholesale Business Controller (m/f/d)

POSITION

As Wholesale Business Controller (m/f/d), based in Hamburg on a full-time basis, you will support the Head of Business Control & Finance in planning, monitoring business activities, and providing strategic advice. Responsible for the Central region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and the Netherlands), you will work closely with various departments. In this role, you will review and analyse financial performance, manage and interpret complex data structures, and prepare action-driven reporting for the entire region. Your insights will drive decision-making processes and help optimize business performance across the region. You will also provide detailed planning and analysis to continuously improve operations while ensuring compliance with internal standards and regulations in a fast-paced environment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Development & monitoring of a reporting structure for seasonal sell-in budgets
  • Development & monitoring of a reporting structure for relevant budget factors (returns, reorders, discounts, credit notes, etc.)
  • Deep dive analysis and profitability check per wholesale channel and territory responsibility
  • Close cooperation with WHSL Sales team and Customer Service

 

Weekly:

  • Prepare weekly analysis of sales, sales forecast, orderbook comparisons to Budget/Dynamic Forecast (DF) and previous seasons and highlight potential issues to the stakeholders and head of controlling.
  • Assist stakeholders with any ad hoc request, such as off-price deals, pricing issues, profitability calculation/verification and financial modelling, as well as reporting requests.

Monthly:

  • Cooperate with the GL team to ensure consistency and quality in the financial reporting.
  • Perform monthly business review meetings with the stakeholders of the markets, highlight commercial reasoning explaining the performance and identify issues which require further investigation and clarification during the month.
  • Participate actively in discussions by providing critical financial insights and continuously challenge management to contain controllable costs.

Seasonal:

  • Perform pricing calculations for the new season and assist the stakeholders in analysing the impact of these prices on the Budget and Dynamic Forecast.
  • Perform control of the prices that are uploaded to SAP.
  • Analyse discount structure on customer basis and advice stakeholders and head of controlling.

Budget and DF:

  • Prepare budget work files in line with the overall ECCO templates and guidelines.
  • Create the planning for the budget process including a list of deliverables and timing schedules together with the stakeholders to ensure budget materials are submitted according to the ECCO guidelines.
  • Assist stakeholders with preparation of budget and dynamic forecast.
  • Ensure timely and correct submissions of the numbers in Anaplan.

 

PROFILE

  • Completed university degree, ideally in the field of business finance/controlling
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the area of finance/controlling or in a comparable position
  • Profound knowledge with MS Office, especially Excel is a must as well as experience in SAP, ERP and/or Power BI systems is an advantage
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills
  • Knowledge of general business conditions and contractual requirements is preferred
  • Fluent in German and English (spoken & written)
  • Willingness to travel for internal meetings
  • Experience in working with international companies
  • Independent & diligent, as well as structured way of working
  • Team player with strong communication skills
