ECCO is seeking a Digital UX Designer for a new role within our Global Digital organization in Copenhagen. As shoemakers for over 50 years, we are passionate about innovation. We are looking for a strategic and curious UX designer who has an inherent drive to innovate and improve the Consumer Experience. The ideal candidate has energy, enthusiasm, and passion for digital innovation and developing commercially relevant and engaging consumer experiences to join our multi-cultural team.
What you’ll be doing:
- Lead UX/UI visual design for the ECCO Digital Platform product teams. With the Product Management team, the UX Designer will focus on driving innovation and performance optimization for an area of ecco.com and micro platforms. Intimately understand the inner workings of the product, competitive space, and the customer. Work on a regular release schedule, utilizing an Agile/Lean UX methodology to identify, develop, and iterate customer-facing enhancements.
- Visual & Functional Enhancements:
- Innovate and propose functional solutions to enhance the customer experience.
- Understand the enhancement objective to iterate for solutions.
- Lead exercises to generate ideas collectively.
- Design final UI leveraging ECCO standards and best practices.
- Collaborate with the development team on technical recommendations.
- Navigate the site often to understand and uncover areas of opportunity.
- Create wireframes as needed.
Front End Build QA:
- Leverage tools efficiently to communicate enhancement specifications and capture defects (JIRA, Confluence, etc.).
- Work side-by-side with Front End Web Development to build and validate all visual/functional enhancements.
- Ensure visual and interactive integrity of front-end build.
- Validate all UI states have been implemented to specifications and standards.
Usability & Test Support:
- Be a key contributor in interview questions, comps, and prototypes for usability sessions.
- Create layouts, low-fi concepts, motion tests, and/or prototypes for GOOB and/or formal usability sessions.
- Explore variations in micro-interactions for optimal clarity throughout the experience.
- Observe usability sessions and focus on extracting key learnings to optimize the experience.
- Use best practices for preparing and interpreting usability observations.
Competitive Patterning:
- Participate in structured patterning exercises to identify best-in-class functionality from the competition.
- Read reports from sites that aggregate findings based on larger usability sessions.
- Maintain continued competitive awareness for product best-in-class.
Presentation Support:
- Prepare decks as needed for better communication of a concept.
- Partner with various creative leads to organize layouts and deliver for executive presentations.
Qualifications:
- Sophisticated sense of visual design/style.
- Passionate advocate for usability and user experience.
- UI visual design and interaction design expertise.
- Proven ability to translate complex design challenges into clear, customer-friendly experiences.
- Working understanding of eCommerce and usability best practices.
- Collaborative, inclusive, and flexible team member.
- Resourceful self-starter who gets things done.
- Highly organized with extreme attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Experience Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree (Design / Interactive) or equivalent design experience.
- 5-7 years of web visual design experience.
- Mastery of appropriate tools and technology.
- Advanced Photoshop skills.
- Working knowledge of Illustrator.
- Understanding of the capabilities and best practices relating to the use of front-end web technologies, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript.
- Proven talent in graphic and interactive design.
- Retail/fashion brand or agency experience desired; eCommerce experience ideal.
- Experience delivering on business and creative goals through design.
- Design for tablet and mobile UI.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English at a proficient level.
