Senior Platform Engineer

Job profile
You will join highly skilled and seasoned colleagues on the Platform Engineering team in the Data & AI tech hub in Copenhagen. We lead our enterprise data platform initiatives and capabilities in the ECCO Group and drive an ambitious strategy to fundamentally improve how ECCO operates based on data.

As Senior Platform Engineer, you are contributing with your technical expertise and strong development skills to the success of ECCO’s enterprise data platform and the use-cases it powers.

In this role, you will:

  • Expand the data platform by identifying and assessing workflows and systems that your colleagues can use advantageously for their work with data
  • Deploy and maintain systems that store and process data
  • Develop crucial pieces of our infrastructure with reliability, security, and scalability in mind
  • Operate the data platform, identify maintenance needs ahead of time and address them
  • Debug complex system behaviour under high load and devise as well as implement strategies for failure mitigation
  • Assess load and plan capacity for production systems
  • Exchange frequently ideas with colleagues to align on implementation as well as architecture choices
  • Set-up the data platform for an ambitious roadmap within ECCO

Personal profile
You are ambitious, self-driven and resourceful.  Developing solutions within a team and tackling challenges drives you. With your creative can-do mindset and strong problem-solving skills, you can find opportunities for improving our existing platform, test the effectiveness of different implementations and courses of action.

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a master’s degree or PhD within science and engineering, e.g. computer science, software engineering or electrical engineering
  • Have senior-level experience using two or three programming languages, we prefer Go, Rust or Scala
  • Have significant experience with Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) preferably using Terraform
  • Have solid understanding of virtualization and containerization under GNU/Linux
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of Kubernetes and its concept
  • Demonstrate deep understanding of SQL and its use in large-scale analytics unified engines
  • Demonstrate strong data and metadata modelling skills and familiarity with standard frameworks, such as Kimball Lifecycle Methodology
  • Have experience using DataOps and Data Observability principles in practice and operations
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to reason about complex data engineering and modelling challenges
  • Train and mentor lower-level engineers on best practices
  • Have excellent communication skills and proficiency in English
