Quality Engineering Lead

Role purpose:

 

As a Quality Engineering Lead, you will play a key cross-functional leadership role supporting ECCO’s Digital Commerce teams. You will drive modern Quality Engineering practices, strengthen quality standards, and help shape the future of quality with AI as a key enabler.

You will lead the adoption of AI-assisted testing, automation and data-driven quality practices to improve test design, defect prevention, analysis and engineering efficiency.

Working closely with Engineering, Product and Release Management, you will promote quality as a shared responsibility and drive continuous improvement across the organization.

 

 

Responsibilities:

  • Own and drive the adoption of consistent Quality Engineering standards, frameworks and best practices across Digital Commerce teams.
  • Lead and scale AI-assisted Quality Engineering practices, ensuring measurable and sustainable improvements across teams.
  • Identify quality gaps, challenge ineffective ways of working and drive improvement initiatives through to implementation.
  • Drive test automation improvements, helping teams reduce manual regression efforts and increase meaningful automation coverage.
  • Promote quality as a shared responsibility, fostering strong collaboration between Quality Engineering, Development and Product teams.
  • Utilize quality metrics and data insights to identify risks, trends and opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Partner with Release Management to support release readiness, risk assessment and release process enhancements.
  • Support teams in defining effective test strategies, risk-based testing approaches and optimal test coverage.
  • Coach and mentor Quality Engineers in automation, test design, AI-assisted testing and modern Quality Engineering practices.
    Drive knowledge sharing, standardization and reuse of Quality Engineering tools, practices and solutions across teams

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience in Software Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering.
  • 2+ years of experience in a QA Lead, Technical Lead or similar Quality Engineering leadership role.
  • Understanding of AI technologies and practical experience applying AI within software testing or software development processes will be considered a significant advantage.
  • Experience working across multiple software development, product or technology teams within complex environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience in software testing, test automation and Quality Engineering practices.
  • Experience defining and driving quality standards, frameworks and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience using quality metrics and data-driven insights to influence decisions and improve software quality.
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills, with the ability to create alignment and drive change without direct authority.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, including the ability to challenge constructively and communicate risks effectively.
  • Proven experience coaching, mentoring and supporting the development of Quality Engineering professionals.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to identifying root causes and improvement opportunities.
  • Strong understanding of modern Quality Engineering principles, Agile methodologies, DevOps practices and software delivery lifecycles.
  • Experience with risk-based testing, release processes and quality governance.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Relevant certifications in Software Testing, Quality Engineering, Agile, DevOps, Test Automation or AI are considered an advantage
