Role purpose:
The Credit Controller is responsible for managing credit risk and ensuring timely collection of receivables in line with ECCO’s Credit Policy. This role helps protect the company’s financial health by making sure customers pay on time and within their credit limits. This role involves checking customer creditworthiness, setting and reviewing credit limits, and following up on overdue payments.
The Credit Controller works closely with teams like Sales, Customer Service, and Finance to resolve issues quickly and keep accounts accurate. The role also supports reporting, helps answer audit questions, reconcile AR subledger and contributes to improving credit processes and tools. In addition, the Credit Controller actively contributes to improving credit control processes—looking for ways to simplify tasks, reduce manual work, and support automation and system enhancements.
Responsibilities
- Maintain aging results for assigned region(s) in line with agreed targets.
- Complete credit reviews and updates in accordance with policy in a timely manner.
- Ensure minimal open items of unallocated cash on AR accounts.
- Review quarterly Bad Debt reserve with the Team Lead.
- Perform credit score checks and periodic reviews in line with the Credit Policy.
- Update credit limits in SAP and apply risk-mitigation tools (bank guarantees, proformas, prepayments).
- Block or unblock customer accounts based on risk assessments and payment behavior.
- Execute dunning procedures and manage escalations for overdue accounts.
- Handle customer disputes, including registration and resolution workflows.
- Process customer refunds and direct debits in cooperation with the Cash Application team.
- Prepare and distribute weekly and monthly aging and other operational reports.
- Support the Team Lead in quarterly bad debt reserve calculations and customer aging reviews.
- Maintain accurate documentation and ensure audit readiness.
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Master Data teams to resolve credit-related issues.
- Serve as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders on credit control matters.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and SAP S/4HANA transition activities.
- Maintain and review procedures to ensure Best Practice within Credit Management.
- Inform and advise Sales and EMEA management on doubtful debtors.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance or related subject
- Relevant experience in a Credit Control function or in a similar position.
- Experience working in an international company or SSC serving multiple countries.
- SAP experience required, S4/HANA will be a plus.
- Proficiency in the use of Excel.
- Strong administrative skills.
- Fluent communication skills in English, any additional languages will be an asset.
- Quality- and deadline-oriented.
- Team player with strong communication skills.
