Senior Process Engineer

 

Senior Process Engineer – make your global sustainability mark

Would you like a new role as our Senior Process Engineer and lead the implementation and transformation of our water and energy strategy? 

In this role, which spans the entire ECCO organisation globally, you will shape and define our water and energy processes as we work towards our environmental targets.

Address Water quality & quantity and promote Green Energy solutions
In our Sustainable Solutions Department, we are 5 colleagues looking into sustainable solutions and new technologies within water, energy, waste, climate, chemistry and circularity. Our aim is to reduce the environmental footprint on ECCO’s entire value chain – across tanneries, shoe factories, supply, transportation, warehousing, shops, end-of-life products etc. Our team is based primarily in the Netherlands HQ for ECCO Leather, except of our senior climate lead who is based at our HQ in Denmark alongside our other corporate responsibility and sustainability functions.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of ECCO’s efforts to address water quality improvement, reduction of consumption, and source recovery, with a secondary focus on promoting sustainable energy solutions. You will develop and lead the implementation of our water strategy, working closely with internal teams, external partners, and stakeholders.

As this is a new role, we expect it to develop over time. Your focus to begin with will be to evaluate existing tools, find the right processes and to monitor our water quantities and quality. You will then develop a water strategy, including defining focus areas to deliver on continuously improve water consumption reduction and quality improvements, as well as work in our energy strategy.

Collaborating closely with our WWTP & EHS Managers from all global factories, Group Environmental Specialist and ESG Reporting Functions, you will:

- Monitor our water data (quantities and quality) and energy data (quantities and resources)
- Conduct a water risk assessment to understand the potential impacts of water stress on our operations and communities and develop adaptation strategies
- Implement water & initiatives for water consumption reduction, water efficiency improvements, water-reuse / water-recycling, water quality improvements and resource recovery leveraging innovative technologies and solutions.
- Implement energy initiatives for emissions reduction, energy efficiency improvements, and renewable energy procurement, leveraging innovative technologies and solutions
- Commit to current targets for water consumption reduction and water quality improvement, resource recovery, renewable energy adoption, and other key performance indicators
- Be a key part for our strategy in setting long-term environmental targets
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to build support for water & energy initiatives, advance water and energy goals, and advocate for policy changes
- Monitor and report on progress to senior leadership and other stakeholders, and conduct periodic reviews and evaluations of water & energy initiatives 

Experience within the environmental, energy, or sustainability field
On a personal level, you can work hands-on with projects and handle the water & energy area with limited supervision. You know how to act with a diverse group of stakeholders from different functions and levels, and in the process, your communication is always on point. 

Finally, we imagine that you: 

- Hold a degree in the water-/environmental-/energy-/sustainability-related field or have equivalent experience working in a water technology role.
- Have several years of experience working specifically in the water technology field (mandatory), with a deep understanding of water quality improvement, water treatment processes, and water efficiency solutions
- It is not mandatory but preferred to have experience in resource recovery and/or energy transition initiatives across the value chain
- Speak and write English effortlessly
