Designer – Leather Goods Design

We are seeking for our office in Dongen (the Netherlands) a passionate Designer for the ECCO Leather Goods Studio. The ECCO Leather Goods studio develops & designs new leather goods and accessories collections. In this position you are responsible for designing innovative and commercial leather goods collections.
Position description:
Are you a passionate Designer? If so, you could be the right person to join our team. In this roll you will:
• Design new collections of leather goods (bags, belts, gloves, slg’s) based on the creative direction;
• Discuss and motivate principles and preconditions for designing (parts of) collections with internal and external stakeholders;
• Visit (international) relevant fairs, suppliers, museums, shops, factories & ECCO offices worldwide;
• Prepare mood boards & work out ideas for internal approval;
• Develop leather goods manually and by use of all relevant and available tools including R&D facilities, external facilities and internal Design tools;
• Create detailed technical files for new designs;
• Execute small production experiments and produce samples in collaboration with the atelier;
• Provide input and product information to marketing (storytelling, promotion videos and presentation of products);
• Develop and elaborate ideas regarding company appearance and visual merchandise in collaboration with marketing;
• Propose seasonal color stories that match the color philosophy;
• Collaborate with product developer on sample development and amendments.
What will you bring?
• A minimum of 5 years’ experience in leather design;
• A good knowledge of creative cloud site;
• A extensive knowledge of the English language (verbal and in writing);
• Willing and able to travel regularly to national and international locations;
• Have a background in lifestyle / casual;
• A bachelor degree from an acknowledged creative institute;
• Willing and able to follow relevant courses and education;
• Strong communication (both verbal and written) and listening skills;
• Team player with a ‘no task is too small’ attitude;
• A strong interest in the diversity of bag designs;
• And good skills in hand sketching.
