Do you want to research and build advanced analytics solutions using the latest tech? And are you genuinely excited by data-driven forecasting – a discipline that draws on classical data science, true statistical knowledge and strong engineering?
Join our Advanced Analytics & AI team to help improve and grow our data science portfolio with a strong focus on forecasting. As a structured, hands-on leader, you will help set the technical direction for the team. Making your mark on data science at ECCO, you will help empower business units to make data-driven decisions and automate operations.
Join our Data & AI tech hub in Copenhagen
We lead the data science initiatives and capabilities in the ECCO Group and drive an ambitious strategy to fundamentally improve how ECCO operates based on data. This means working with the entire value chain from logistics and sales to marketing, pricing and store operations.
As a Lead Data Scientist, you will develop, implement and deliver complex solutions, ranging from exploratory analyses to automated solutions in production. Using DevOps and DataOps pipelines, you will deploy and maintain solutions, and you will:
- Be a leading mind in the Data Science & Machine Learning product team, working closely together with skilled ML engineers and (Sr) Data Scientists
- Lead the architectural vision and technical implementation of the team’s data science solutions, setting clear standards and structure for how we design, build and ship
- Scope and develop new data science products with strong core in forecasting, but also expanding the team scope into other core data science disciplines over time
- Deliver solutions based on a modern data platform that is delivered by a state-of-the-art Data Platform team, enabling more focus on data science, and less worry about data pipelines
You enjoy applying analytics to real-life business challenges
While self-driven and resourceful, you enjoy working in teams to solve challenges and develop the best solutions. You are genuinely interested in forecasting and enjoy the more classical data science and statistics disciplines it builds on. This curiosity matters more to us than years of forecasting experience.
You work in a structured way and like bringing clarity and sound architecture to complex problems. With your creative can-do mindset and strong problem-solving skills, you can find opportunities for process optimisation and test the effectiveness of different models and courses of action.
You are always interested in learning new technologies and ways of working – and open to unlearning old ones. Moreover, we imagine that you:
- Hold a master’s degree or PhD in a quantitative discipline, e.g. statistics, mathematics, engineering or operation research
- Have significant experience as a Senior Data Scientist or an equivalent quantitative role with a strong focus on statistics and the classical data science disciplines; hands-on forecasting experience is a plus but not a requirement
- Have significant experience using data science/database software and programming languages, such as SQL, R and Python
- Have experience with unified analytics engines such as Snowflake, as well as with container platform/orchestration systems such as Docker/Kubernetes
- Are fluent in English and have solid communication skills; fluency in Danish is a plus.
Ideally you bring a software engineering background or strong engineering expertise or, alternatively, experience running machine learning systems in production at scale; either is a significant advantage.
We tackle an endless range of new opportunities
You can look forward to joining a tech hub with 30+ highly skilled, motivated, collaborative and fun-loving colleagues. We share an entrepreneurial spirit and a bias for action. With a broad mandate to experiment, explore and innovate, we are tackling an endless range of new opportunities.
We are always ready to implement new technologies into our workflow. In addition, your continued personal and professional development is essential to us, and we offer participation in internal and external courses, education and conferences supporting this development.
Are you ready for your next challenge?
We invite candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis, so please do not hesitate to apply. Applications are reviewed continuously. However, please note that we reserve the right to amend or withdraw vacancies at any time, including before the advertised closing date. So, if you are interested in this role, we encourage you to apply as soon as possible.
