Head of Environmental Compliance

Head of Environmental Compliance – advancing ECCO's footprints of tomorrow

Are you ready to help lead ECCO's sustainability journey and inspire a team of dedicated, technical compliance experts? Join us in enhancing ECCO's commitment to environmental, social, and governance principles.

In this key role, you will significantly reduce our environmental footprint across tanneries, production facilities, and retail outlets. Join us to collaborate with colleagues across the Group to establish a unified approach, define objectives, and chart a clear course for your team.

You'll be at the heart of a dynamic leadership team, tackling diverse compliance challenges across vertically integrated tanneries, factories, and retail,” shares VP Pia Yasuko Rask.

Shaping ECCO's Environmental Compliance Future
At our headquarters in Tønder, you will join a management team consisting of 4 colleagues, 2 based in the Netherlands and 2 in Denmark. Together, you will spearhead ECCO’s sustainability initiatives, focusing on 'perform, inform, and transform' agendas to define and achieve ECCO’s sustainability objectives.

In this influential role, you will lead a team of 4 experts:

  • 1 Group Environmental Specialist dedicated to developing and orchestrating our environmental compliance efforts, and
  • 3 Product Compliance Specialists addressing a wide array of issues, from chemicals to waste and packaging, as well as testing and certification regimes across various product categories and regions.
  • In addition, there are 2 open positions within the team.

You and your team will collaborate with environmental and compliance colleagues from different markets and functions to support implementation and offer local expertise.

As head of the team, you will establish a clear vision, craft streamlined compliance pathways, and champion global standards. Essential duties involve nurturing your team, streamlining compliance records, and cultivating a cohesive ECCO culture through worldwide teamwork.

Experience with people management and Global Product Compliance
As an experienced manager in global environmental product compliance, you know how to guide technical teams within complex, global matrix organisations. Your practical leadership and collaborative skills enable you to develop processes that seamlessly connect strategy to implementation.

You are a collaborative team player, skilled at prioritising and making informed decisions that weigh both commercial and environmental considerations. Additionally, your background likely includes:

  • Leadership experience with technical teams.
  • A master's degree in environmental science, law, engineering, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience, at least 3 within global product compliance.
  • Expertise in environment, health, and safety within manufacturing settings.
  • Familiarity with the dynamics of a matrix organisation.

We invite candidates for interviews on an ongoing basis, so do not hesitate to apply.
