Footwear Material Developer - ECCO HQ, Bredebro

Do you want to influence the materials behind ECCO’s future collections and help turn innovative ideas into production-ready solutions used around the world?

Drive material innovation from concept to production
At ECCO HQ in Bredebro, you will join our Global Material Management team and play a key role in developing the materials that bring our footwear collections to life. Working closely with Design, Global Development & Engineering, production units and external suppliers, you will help ensure that new materials meet our high standards for quality, performance and manufacturability.

This is a role for someone who enjoys combining technical expertise, creativity and stakeholder collaboration. You will be involved throughout the material development journey, from identifying new opportunities and testing innovative solutions to securing a smooth handover to production. During your first months, you will build relationships across the organisation, learn our processes and gain a deep understanding of how materials contribute to the success of our products.

More specifically, you will:

  • Develop and implement new footwear materials based on requirements from Design and Global Development & Engineering.
  • Plan, coordinate and evaluate material testing to ensure compliance with quality, performance and regulatory standards.
  • Explore new materials, technologies and supplier partnerships that support innovation and continuous improvement.
  • Manage material specifications, documentation and data in PLM while ensuring a smooth handover to production.
  • Support strategic initiatives related to sustainability, cost optimisation and material innovation.

Bring your material expertise and collaborative mindset
You enjoy working with both technical details and a broad network of stakeholders. You are structured, curious and passionate about learning, and you thrive in an environment where collaboration and continuous development go hand in hand.

We imagine that you:

  • Hold a bachelor's degree in Material Science, Textile Engineering or a related field.
  • Have 3-5 years of experience within material development, preferably from the footwear or fashion industry.
  • Bring experience working with suppliers and coordinating development activities across multiple stakeholders.
  • Have strong organisational skills and can manage several priorities while meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate confidently in English and are comfortable working with systems such as PLM, SAP and Microsoft Office.

Join a team that shapes the materials of tomorrow
You will become part of a dedicated and highly specialised Global Material Management team where knowledge-sharing, teamwork and curiosity are valued every day. We work closely across functions and cultures, combining craftsmanship, innovation and technical expertise to create materials that support both product excellence and future business needs.

In return, you will gain a global network, opportunities for professional growth and the chance to make a visible impact on products that reach customers around the world. We welcome new ideas and encourage continuous improvement, giving you the opportunity to shape both your role and the future of our materials.

Ready to make your mark on future footwear materials?
If this opportunity sounds like the right next step for you, we would love to hear from you. Even if you do not meet every requirement, we encourage you to apply if you believe your experience and potential could make a valuable contribution.

We review applications on an ongoing basis and the vacancy is open until the right candidate has been found.

For questions about the role, feel free to reach out to Footwear Materials Development Lead, Susanne Nasser Ælmholdt, on sna@ecco.com.
