Fabrics Specialist - ECCO HQ, Bredebro

Do you want to shape the future of footwear by driving best in class fabric and textile solutions across a global organisation?

As our new Fabrics Specialist, you will help accelerate ECCO’s transition into textile footwear. Within your first months, you will already be recognised by colleagues across materials management, category management, design, product development and quality for your expertise in fabric development. You will move us from off the shelf solutions to brief driven innovation with preferred vendors.

Working with fabrics to drive ECCO’s strategic shift toward textile footwear
You will join the Global Development & Engineering organisation in Denmark, reporting directly to Senior Group Quality & Development Director. Your role revolves around shaping and guiding textile briefs together with our Category and Design teams, ensuring that developments reflect their expectations for performance, look and cost.

You will collaborate with our materials management teams in Denmark, Singapore and Portugal, strengthening our partnerships with fabric suppliers and driving new textile developments. You will also work with range building teams in Denmark, Portugal, Thailand and Indonesia, advising on the best way to integrate textiles in footwear and on processes that support the desired effects and product outcomes.

You drive fabric innovation and development
This is a hands-on role where deep interaction with vendors is essential. You can expect to travel 75–100 days per year to development sites across Asia, working directly on weaving or knitting programmes, yarn specifications and dyeing methods. Most of your weekly work takes place at our headquarters in Bredebro.

You will:

  • Lead the development of new fabrics based on briefs from Design and Category Management, ensuring outcomes align with expectations.
  • Drive innovation with selected fabric partners and shift ECCO away from standard ready-made materials toward purpose driven solutions.
  • Collaborate with global product development teams to integrate textiles into footwear and guide on best processes to achieve specific effects.
  • Provide expert insight on manufacturing methods such as weaving, knitting and dyeing to reach the desired look, cost or performance.
  • Develop and deploy ECCO’s textile strategy with trend forecasts and measure progress through the Textile Development Committee Meeting.

You are able to navigate technical development and hands on collaboration
We value curiosity, willingness to learn and a collaborative spirit. We imagine you bring:

  • A degree in textiles or fabrics engineering or a related field.
  • 5 years’ experience developing or sourcing textiles, ideally within footwear or apparel.
  • Solid understanding of yarns, textile constructions and production methods.
  • Ability to translate creative briefs into technical development steps and collaborate with vendors to bring concepts to life.

A team rooted in craftsmanship and global collaboration
You will join a team driven by a passion for materials and product excellence. The atmosphere is open, warm and collaborative, spanning colleagues across several countries who share a deep commitment to innovation and craftsmanship. While you will often take the lead in your own area, you will always have broad support from highly skilled specialists across ECCO’s material, design and development functions.

Ready to help shape ECCO’s textile future?
We invite you to apply as soon as possible, as we review applications on an ongoing basis.

For questions about the role, feel free to reach out to Philip Rydhard, Senior Group Quality & Development Director, on pry@ecco.com.
