Head of Business Control

 

We are seeking a driven and analytical Head of Business Control who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The candidate will be responsible for overseeing business operations across multiple markets and serving as the interface between the commercial team/local controllers and the regional leadership team in terms of financial performance. Additionally, the role involves interfacing with support functions (accounting, data, IT) on technical matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership and Team Management: Lead and mentor a team of business controllers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture. Provide strategic direction and support to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
  • Financial Analysis and Reporting: Perform review and analysis of weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales and financial figures. Track actuals, conduct root cause analysis of deviations, and establish plans to meet financial goals in close cooperation with regional business controllers and commercial management.
  • Reporting Development: Develop and improve new and existing reporting in Power BI, with key stakeholders being the European leadership team and area managers across multiple markets. Lead initiatives to create and enhance BI tools to provide actionable insights and support data-driven decision-making.
  • Budgeting and Forecasting: Oversee the execution and production of reliable budgets and quarterly forecasts, including consolidation of regional plans. Assist and support the markets and regional functions during the entire budget and forecast process.
  • In-Depth Financial Analysis: Conduct in-depth financial analysis of business activities, including scenario analysis, profitability assessments, and KPI optimization. Provide business recommendations on investment decisions for management approval.
  • Decision Support: Deliver financial input for decision-making to management as well as relevant reports and analysis. Support, challenge, and work closely with internal stakeholders on how to optimize the business and improve profitability.
  • Costing & Pricing: Manage costing processes, oversee trade pricing as well as evaluating the recommended retail prices in Europe.
  • Stock Management: Oversee stock take, scrapping goods, and depreciation to manage these significant costs effectively as well secure stock reports on a monthly basis.
  • Logistic Reporting, Budgets, and Scenarios: Support the logistics team with month-end closing and reports as well as developing logistic budgets and financial scenarios as needed.
  • Cashflow Forecasting: Provide weekly cashflow forecasts to HQ.
  • Projects & Ad-hoc: Support the CFO with projects and ad-hoc tasks.

Candidate Profile

  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire and guide a team towards achieving strategic objectives. Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills.
  • Positive Attitude and Team Spirit: Dynamic and able to meet deadlines while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong Analytical Skills: Able to structure complex problems, summarize core findings, and explain data and financial analysis effectively.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong proficiency in MS Excel is a must. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, and Power BI is essential
  • System Understanding: Strong understanding of complex data structures. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 and SAP is an advantage.
  • Curiosity and Drive: Natural curiosity and drive to identify ways to challenge the status quo and improve business processes.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in relevant industries is an advantage.
  • Experience: 7+ years of experience in Business Control or Business Analyst positions, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
