Role Overview
The e-Commerce Merchandise Manager drives profitable growth across our Direct-to-Consumer (DTC), wholesale and marketplace channels by selecting, forecasting, and managing winning product assortments. Supported by a planner, this role balances strategic decision-making with operational oversight, ensuring optimized stock utilization, strong collaboration with marketing, and alignment with regional and global initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Merchandise Planning & Strategy
- Define and execute a 2-year merchandising strategy aligned with sales plans and budgets.
- Select and forecast the most commercially viable assortments for ECCO.com, marketplaces and wholesale accounts, including Amazon.
- Lead seasonal forecasting alignment with regional (and global) teams.
- Propose structured merchandising frameworks to guide collections.
- Delegate operational tracking and reporting to the planner.
Inventory & Stock Management
- Oversee stock depth, pools, and allocation between channels to maximize profitability.
- Guarantee availability in the central fulfillment center and facilitate cross-channel stock opportunities.
- Optimize SKU efficiency by managing carryover products and reducing excess inventory.
- Define end of cycle sell out to outlet channels
Assortment Insights
- Analyze market and consumer trends, integrating insights into product planning and segmentation.
- Identify cross-category opportunities to cover assortment gaps.
- Deliver monthly product performance analysis against buy and relevant proxies (supported by the planner)
- Deliver per season sell-out insights and recommendations/ learnings.
- Provide pricing direction and analysis across subregions.
- Analyse and define a winning product and promotional strategy for Black Friday Cyber Monday across ECCO.com and marketplaces (where applicable)
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Pro-actively partner with digital marketing, trade managers and key accounts by ensuring featured products align with stock depth and profitability.
- Lead communication with S&OP, regional, and global teams on key initiatives.
- Support pre-line and sell-in meetings; the planner coordinates logistics and data preparation.
- Facilitate best-practice sharing across the e-commerce team and broader merchandising community.
Leadership & Development
- Lead, coach, and mentor the assisting FTE and other junior team members.
- Build strategic relationships with global and regional stakeholders.
- Continuously develop merchandising skills and tool proficiency (e.g., BI tools), staying updated on industry trends.
- Represent the team in market trips and regional discussions, supported by assistant-prepared materials.

- Strategic initiatives executed effectively, supported by operational delegation.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration and mentorship resulting in efficient operations and knowledge sharing.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum Bachelor degree in Business, Merchandising, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum 5–7 years’ experience in e-commerce merchandising, assortment planning, or buying, ideally within a multi-channel retail or fashion business.
- Proven success managing accounts in DTC, wholesale and/or marketplace assortments (Either Amazon or Zalando experience is a must).
- Strong analytical and forecasting skills with experience using BI/reporting tools (Tableau, Power BI, Excel).
- Solid understanding of stock optimization, lifecycle management, and pricing strategy.
- Experience leading key seasonal events like Black Friday or end-of-season campaigns.
- Natural leadership ability with experience mentoring or guiding junior team members.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills, working confidently across marketing, trade, and global merchandising teams.
- Fluent in English.
